ABOUT SIMON

Simon is one of Australia’s leading Executive Producers & Development Executives, having produced and developed some of the country’s most iconic television shows.

In 2016, Simon joined McAvoy Media as the Head of Development, after leaving his position as Head of Factual at Screentime.

He began his career at the Nine Network’s Wide World of Sports before producing numerous shows for the channel across many genres. Over a period of fifteen years Simon series produced and executive produced shows including This is Your Life, the hugely popular NRL Footy Show, 20 to 1 with Bert Newton, as well as the channel’s New Year’s Eve Coverages.

After leaving the Nine Network in 2009, Simon joined the independent production sector, where he created and executive produced the hugely successful observational documentary series RBT, which has been airing on the Nine Network for more than 10 years. He also co-developed & co-produced Outback Coroner for Foxtel’s Crime & Investigation Network. He was Executive Producer on two series of Village Vets Australia (Foxtel’s Lifestyle Channel) and The Flying Miners (ABC TV). He was both creator and executive producer of both Outback ER (ABC TV) and the critically acclaimed Taking On the Chocolate Frog (Foxtel’s Studio Channel), a finalist at the 2014 AACTA Awards & Screen Producers Awards for Best Documentary Television Program.

During his time at McAvoy Media, Simon has been responsible for the company’s development slate and overseeing development and production on productions such as Say Yes To The Dress (Discovery International), Who’s Who In The Zoo (Channel Nine, Nat Geo Wild US, Channel 4 UK) and two series of Teenage Boss (ABC Me), which earnt two nominations at the 2019 Logie Awards.
